WorldForum 2009 is the 20th annual event organized by the International Forum for Child Welfare (IFCW, a world organization of NGOs with special interest in child welfare) which this year on October 21 - 24 will meet in Jakarta, Indonesia co- hosted by the Indonesian Child Welfare Foundation (YKAI, Yayasan Kesejahteraan Anak Indonesia).
WorldForum 2009 will gather CEOs and leaders of IFCW member organizations, other institutions and individuals to share experience, knowledge, latest development and concern about child welfare in the world. It will highlight practical and innovative solutions, cutting-edge research and evidence-based practices and development of new strategies to address the emerging challenges. Presenters of discussion papers and delegates will participate in this important event which includes also the participation of the youth at YouthForum 2009, an event held in parallel with WorldForum 2009.
In conjunction with its 20th anniversary, IFCW will hold the WorldForum for the second time in South East Asia and the fourth time in Asia. IFCW recognizes that there are emerging challenges in the implementation of the Rights of the Child in Asia where half of the world’s population lives. The theme adopted by WorldForum 2009 “Toward a Safer and Better World by Realizing the Rights of the Child” will again remind us that People, Planet and Prosperity are the three pillars of a sustainable development.
IFCW is pleased to co-host WorldForum 2009 coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Indonesian Child Welfare Foundation (YKAI), a recognized leading organization on the advocacy of the Rights of the Child in Indonesia. It is a founding member of IFCW at its establishment in Helsinki 20 years ago.
